PHUKET, THAILAND: Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay is making strides toward sustainability with the implementation of their own fruit and herb garden. The goal of this agricultural effort is to eventually supply 100% of food and beverage outlets on the property. Additionally, any food waste is being compiled and used to fertilize new plants, further reducing overall waste and consumption. This resort not only offers picture-perfect views and luxurious accommodations overlooking the Kalim Bay, but has now adopted sustainable practices that will improve their environmental impact over time. The resort is growing their own produce through a specially planted, 6,000 square meter orchard and herb garden, which will be used within guest meals. This garden houses plants and herbs that are common ingredients in Thai cuisine such as coconut trees, banana trees, papaya trees, and spices including lime, kaffir lime, lemongrass and fingerroot. The garden isn't Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay's only sustainable effort; the resort is also committing to eco-friendly initiatives through installation of water efficient shower heads, heating and cooling controls, recycling hazardous materials & more. The resort team is also championing sustainability in the community through initiatives such as cleaning local beaches and recycling. Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay has been recognized by the Wyndham Green program and has been awarded a Level 2 certification for their sustainability efforts. This Green program consists of 5 levels that assess hotels based on sustainability elements of energy & water conservation, waste diversion, operational efficiency, and employee engagement & education.Learn more about how this Wyndham resort is leading the way to a more sustainable resort experience here.
