Travel Guide: New York City I spent a few days exploring the Big Apple to create an in-depth Travel Guide for your next New York City vacay. Here are some recommendations for where to stay, what to do, and what to eat on your next Extra Holidays vacation to The City That Never Sleeps. Where to stay: Club Wydham Midtown 45 Club Wyndham Midtown 45 is centrally located in Midtown and is within walking distance to Grand Central Station, Madison Avenue, Park Avenue Restaurants and Fifth Avenue Shopping. This resort is a great option if you're looking for spacious suites in a central location. I stayed in a two-bedroom suite that slept six, and was huge by New York standards – 760 square feet. It had floor to ceiling windows, a living and dining area, a sleeper sofa in the living room, a full kitchen, and even a TV in the bathroom (which is SO Extra and we're living for it). The suite was so comfortable and would be perfect for traveling with family and friends. This resort also has an amazing rooftop lounge. You can watch TV, play board games, read a book, or sit outside and soak up the view. They even had a free beverage every day, like boozy popsicles, Sunday mimosas, Peach Rose Sangria, and more. With free drinks and cityscape views, this is the perfect spot to relax after a busy day exploring the city. Where to eat: What do you do on a trip to New York? You walk around and you eat. New York has the most restaurants per capita among all U.S. cities, so options are practically limitless. Here are some eats that are worth adding to your list: Bluestone Lane: A good café for breakfast and lunch with lots of healthy options available. Citizens of Soho: A great spot in Soho for breakfast, brunch, and coffee. Very Instagram-worthy, too. Eataly: A large Italian marketplace that has restaurants, food counters, and bakeries. Pick up a slice of pizza to go or sit down and enjoy authentic Italian pasta. Time Out Market: Located in Brooklyn, Time Out Market is a food hall with over 30 restaurants and food kiosks. Tip: make your way to the rooftop to have a drink. You're going to want to see this view. La Grande Boucherie: If you're looking for something more upscale for dinner, try this French restaurant. Ralph's Coffee: Stop by Ralph's for your morning coffee. Levain Bakery: If you're craving something sweet, treat yourself to some cookies at Levain Bakery. Chocolate Chip Walnut was my favorite. Pizza: A trip to NYC isn't complete without New York style pizza. If you're on-the-go and want a quick bite to eat, grab a slice from one of the many local pizza shops. What to do: Okay, so maybe there is more (a lot more) to New York than just walking and eating. Here are our recommendations: Visit The Met: You could easily spend the whole day at The Met. It's one of the largest art museums in the world and contains more than two million works of art. Tickets are $25 if you're not a New York resident and you must make an online reservation before your visit. Walk The High Line: The High Line is a public park built on an elevated rail structure that goes for 1.45 miles. It's a quiet oasis lifted off the busy NYC streets and has some spectacular views. Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and explore D.U.M.B.O: If you want to see some amazing views, cross the Brooklyn Bridge (even better if you go during sunset). Crossing the bridge should take you no longer than an hour, and that's with stopping for photos. At the end of it, explore one of the most visited spots in Brooklyn - DUMBO (which stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass). It's a great area for photos, dining, and shopping. Go shopping in Soho: Soho is a very popular neighborhood for shopping. You'll find everything from luxury brands to smaller boutiques. Washington Square Park: This public park is a great spot to relax, have a picnic, catch a live performance or gather with friends. Chelsea Market: Located in the heart of the Meatpacking District, Chelsea Market is a food and retail marketplace that is definitely worth visiting. It's a great spot to try a new restaurant, pick up food products like meats and cheeses, grab a glass of wine, or visit unique shops. Times Square: Last but not least. Although touristy, did you even go to NYC if you didn't go to Times Square? Thanks for tuning in to our Travel Takeover in New York City!
