Gorges State Park - This state park offers visitors unbelievable waterfalls, rocky gorges, extreme vertical rock walls and one of the best places to find rare and unique species. Gorge State Park has a natural elevation that rises an incredible 2,000 feet in only 4 miles. This location, due to the rainfall, has a temperate rain forest and some of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world.

Sapphire Mountain Golf Club - A challenging course that is both narrow and hilly with water hazards in play on 10 of the 18 holes! The large greens are severely undulating and lightning fast. This is the perfect location for golf enthusiasts to play a round, challenge skill and have a fun day overall.

Sapphire Valley Ski Slopes - Hidden in the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains, this ski haven offers an elevation of 4,300 feet. Two runs are offers for beginner and advanced skiers, and instructors are on hand to offer tips and lessons.

Gem Mining at the Log Cabin - Oh my goodness - what fun! The whole family can actively mine for sapphires, rubies and other gemstones. Certain to be an adventure your children will not forget, no experience is required and equipment is provided at the cabin.

Concerts on the Slopes - A huge draw for locals and tourists alike, Concert on the Slopes at Sapphire Valley Resort is so much fun! Talented entertainers perform while guests take pleasure in the sights and sounds sitting from the main slope. It truly is like a huge outdoor, natural amphitheater. Each show is on a Wednesday evening, starting at 7:00 pm

Sapphire Valley Arts & Crafts Shows – This popular event is held three times each year - in June, August and October. Attracting a diverse range of artisans who specialize in everything from contemporary crafts and fine art to folk art and artisan jewelry, you should plan to attend if you are in Sapphire in these months. 

Hilliard Falls - Also known as Bear Camp Creek Falls, you can access these 50’ high falls from the trail off the Foothills Trail. The magnificent waterfalls of Sapphire are one of the main tourist attractions and should be included in your sightseeing plans. Young and old will be impressed with the graceful, falling waters. 

Whitewater Falls - Standing at a majestic 411 feet, Whitewater Falls is one of the highest waterfalls in the South. This is a popular destination for nature lovers and water enthusiasts as well as those who just want to stand in awe at this natural wonder.

Old Edward Spa – Just 13 miles from Sapphire is a spa oasis that is perfect for easing muscles and renewing body and soul. The Old Edward Spa is 10,000 square feet of pure luxury, specializing in European spa treatments and body therapies. Take a day or a whole weekend to luxuriate in a little piece of heaven.

The Pisgah Forest Fish Hatchery - This cold-water fish hatchery grows more than 500,000 trout each year. You are welcome to view and feed the fish. This is a unique outing for children who will surely enjoy watching all the fish and having an opportunity to feed them.

Mountain Adventure Guides - Just outside of Sapphire in Asheville, you can experience white water rafting with a trained guide. Trips are available on the French Broad and Nolichucky Rivers. Mountain Adventure Guides also offer guided rock climbing excursions. Beginners as well as enthusiasts that are more advanced are welcome!
