Archuleta County Fair
Date: August 1, 2008

According to the dictionary, the definition of treasure is something highly valued, as for purity or goodness. "Traditions We Treasure," the theme of the 2008 Archuleta County Fair, invokes the images of those things highly valued within our community. Our purpose is to not only advance the interest of agriculture in our county but to honor our rich western heritage through outstanding exhibits, attractions, games for the kids, livestock shows, and old-fashioned entertainment like Tim Sullivan.

Whether it's a prize ribbon from a project, meeting up with old friends or chowing down a plate of mouth-watering brisket at the Chuckwagon, we hope that each person comes away from this Fair with a stronger sense of the fundamental country values that has shaped our rural way of living. We know that the county fair experience is more than an agriculture experience. It is an opportunity for rural and urban people to come closer together, to educate and entertain the public, and to develop a broader sense of community.
