Drayton Hall – The oldest preserved plantation house in America that is open to the public. Completed in 1742, the historic plantation house stands on 630-acres and is one of the finest examples of Georgian-Palladian architecture in America. Still without running water, electric lighting, or central heating, the preservation of the house extends to its guests a sense of timelessness and continuity.
Edisto Island Museum – Preserving and exhibiting the history of Edisto Island, this museum is quaint and educational. The permanent exhibit in the gallery includes a vast collection of photographs which date back to the Civil War. Don’t miss the earliest items in the museum; fossils that exemplify the history of Edisto Island.
Ace Basin Tours – Take a wonderful 3-hour tour through the marshes and Sea Islands of the Ace Basin. The tour starts at the docks which is also the actual site of the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company in the movie Forrest Gump. Enjoy the leisurely tour aboard Dixie Lady, a 38’ pontoon that holds 40.
Edisto Island Serpentarium - Educational displays of snakes and reptiles from around the world makes for a slithering good time for the whole family! Both indoor and outdoor viewing areas are available to visitors Aside from snakes; there are alligators, turtles and more!
Edisto Watersports – Take the 2 ½ Otter Island shell excursion, especially if you love collecting shells or want to experience a true deserted Island.
