Daytona Beach is a city of sun, sand and sensational attractions. This ocean beach-front city plays host to more than 8 Million tourists each year. Home to the famous Bike Week but no longer a rowdy Spring Break, this city is safe and serene enough for a couple or family vacation, with lots of nightlife and activity for those that want it. Vacationers have been flocking to the Daytona Beach area for more than a century.
During the late 1800s, the area caught the attention and imagination of many wealthy northern tycoons who found the land favorable for investment. One such mogul, Matthias Day, was the founding father of what was then called Daytona. He had built the first hotel, the Palmetto House, in 1874. Ever since, this destination that promises sparkling waters, soft sands and plenty of sunshine has been a favorite holiday destination.
